Objective: Observe Rotaional Inertia and Precession using a bowling ball gyroscope.

Assembly Instructions

Equipment List
Bowling Ball with mounted axis
Base with Air Hose Mount
Pull Rope and Small Tube
Overview

Hook up air hose.  Turn air pressure up until a minimum pressure just allows bowling ball elevation.  Show Axis of Bowling Ball falls if ball is not spinning.

Either start rotation by hand or insert rope through hole in axis and wrap rope around axis.  Stabilize axis using small tube and pull rope to start Bowling Ball spinning along its axis. Watch ball precess due to gravitational torque.
