Description
Vajradhatu Buddha (The Vajra Holder, Enlightened One). The primordial Buddha, personification of the dharmakaya (the truth body of the enlightened mind), and progenitor of the Vajrayana system of Buddhism. Peaceful and dark blue in color, he sits with two hands folded across the heart—a vajra in each hand. Standing at the left is the Bodhisattva Maitreya with Manjushri on the right. Mahasiddhas and Gelug lamas are seated above and the wealth deity and worldly protector Vaishravana sits on a snow lion at the bottom right. A donor figure, wearing monastic robes and accompanied by attendants, is in the bottom left corner. 19th century.
